1st Rangers Goal (Nash), Even

  • NY Rangers Contributions
    R. Nash – takes a puck that Tavares backhanded to him along the boards in the Rangers zone, carries it up the right side boards through the neutral zone, carries it down the boards in the Islanders zone to the goal line, and backhands a puck on net that goes through Halak’s five-hole and in
  • NY Islanders Faults
    J. Tavares – turns the puck over to Nash along the boards in the Rangers zone
    J. Halak – allows a bad angle goal along the goal line to slide through his five-hole and into the net

1st Islanders Goal (Boychuk), Powerplay

  • NY Islanders Contributions
    J. Boychuk – gets a loose puck that caromed off of the boards to him at the right point in the Rangers zone, then passes it to Okposo along the right side boards (cont.), takes a slapshot that beats Lundqvist’s blocker
    K. Okposo – skates into the right faceoff circle and then passes the puck back to Boychuk
  • NY Rangers Faults
    R. McDonagh – in the penalty box for interference

2nd NY Rangers Goal (Brassard), Even

  • NY Rangers Contributions
    D. Brassard – intercepts Reinhart’s clearing attempt along the boards in the Islanders zone, then plays it a couple of feet further down the boards for Stempniak (cont.), flicks Kreider’s centering pass past Halak’s blocker
    L. Stempniak – plays the puck into the right corner for Kreider
    C. Kreider – gets the puck along the back boards just inside the trapezoid and makes a quick backhand pass to Brassard
  • NY Islanders Faults
    G. Reinhart – gets the puck in the corner of the Islanders zone and tries to play it up the boards, but plays it to Brassard, then doesn’t get to Brassard quickly enough going to the slot, allowing him to score off of Kreider’s pass

2nd NY Islanders Goal (Tavares), Even

  • NY Islanders Contributions
    N. Kulemin – intercepts Kostka’s pass to the left of the Rangers goal, then passes the puck to Tavares entering the slot
    J. Tavares – one-times Kulemin’s pass past Lundqvist’s glove
  • NY Rangers Faults
    M. Kostka – gets the puck behind the Rangers net and tries to play it to the boards, but gives it away to Kulemin

3rd NY Islanders Goal (Okposo), Even

  • NY Islanders Contributions
    K. Okposo – intercepts the pass from Kostka in the high slot and immediately rips a shot past Lundqvist’s blocker
  • NY Rangers Faults
    M. Kostka – picks up a loose puck next to the Rangers net and tries to play it up through the middle, giving it away to Okposo in the high slot

4th NY Islanders Goal (Nelson), Even

  • NY Islanders Contributions
    T. Hamonic – gets the puck in the neutral zone and dumps it into the Rangers zone
    M. Grabovski – gets to the puck in the left corner of the Rangers zone first and pushes it behind the net for Strome
    R. Strome – passes the puck from the edge of the trapezoid against the boards to the slot for Nelson
    B. Nelson – receives the puck in the slot by himself, holds it as Lundqvist goes down, and then slides it through his five-hole
  • NY Rangers Faults
    A. Duclair – sees Nelson in open space in front of the net and doesn’t skate to him until it’s too late to prevent the goal

5th NY Islanders Goal (Grabovski), Even

  • NY Islanders Contributions
    R. Strome – tries to clear a loose puck from the middle of the Islanders zone, has it blocked, and chips at it again to knock it to Grabovski entering the left side of the Rangers zone on a 2-on-1 with Nelson on his right
    M. Grabovski – tries to feed the puck across the slot to Nelson, but has it deflect off of Klein’s stick in between them and past Lundqvist’s blocker
  • NY Rangers Faults
    J. Moore – pinches into the Islanders zone to get the puck off of Strome, but fails to keep the puck in and leaves a 2-on-1 going the other way for the Islanders
    K. Klein – deflects Grabovski’s pass past Lundqvist into the net

6th NY Islanders Goal (Leddy), Even

  • NY Islanders Contributions
    N. Leddy – stops Zuccarello’s clearing attempt at the left point and chips the puck down to Tavares at the left faceoff circle (cont.), one-times the puck off the left post into the net
    J. Tavares – holds the puck along the left side boards and battles with Zuccarello for it, eventually passing it back up to Leddy
  • NY Rangers Faults
    M. Zuccarello – tries to chip a puck past Leddy out of the Rangers zone, but Leddy stops it for a turnover
    H. Lundqvist – takes a small step to his left when the puck goes back to Leddy, which takes him off of his angle to Leddy and leaves an opening for the puck to get past him

3rd NY Rangers Goal (Nash), Even

  • NY Rangers Contributions
    R. McDonagh – starts with the puck behind the Rangers net and passes it out to the left to St. Louis for the breakout
    M. St. Louis – carries the puck down the left side boards, then cuts to the middle in the neutral zone and enters the offensive zone before passing the puck to the right for Duclair
    A. Duclair – takes the puck half way down the right side boards and pulls up, then centers a pass for Nash entering the slot
    R. Nash – carries the puck to the edge of the left faceoff circle and shoots it
  • NY Islanders Faults
    R. Strome – gets caught following the puck from St. Louis to Duclair to Nash, which leads to him being late in positioning himself against Nash and he loses the angle on him in the slot
    G. Reinhart – drops back to the crease with St. Louis despite Strait having him covered, which leaves him out of position to step up on Nash as he skates into the left faceoff circle
