1st Sharks Goal (T. Wingels), Even

  • San Jose Contributions
    T. McGinn – picks up a loose puck below the goal line on the left side of the net after it ricocheted off of a couple of players, then passes the puck to Wingels just below the left faceoff circle
    T. Wingels – takes a bad angle shot from below the left faceoff circle that beats Quick high
  • Los Angeles Faults
    J. Quick – doesn’t stay square to Wingels, giving him room to sneak the shot in from a bad angle

2nd Sharks Goal (P. Marleau), Powerplay

  • San Jose Contributions
    M. Vlasic – prevents Doughty’s clearing attempt and keeps the puck in the offensive zone, then pokes it over to Burns to his right
    B. Burns – takes a wrist shot towards Marleau’s stick on the inside edge of the right faceoff circle
    P. Marleau – redirects the shot by Burns over Quick’s left shoulder
  • Los Angeles Faults
    K. Clifford – in the penalty box for tripping
    D. Doughty – gets the puck in the corner of the defensive zone and fails to clear it as he hits Vlasic at the left point

3rd Sharks Goal (T. Wingels), Even

  • San Jose Contributions
    C. Tierney – blocks Doughty’s shot
    B. Burns – picks up the rebound off of the block and passes it ahead to Wingels breaking through center ice
    T. Wingels – flips the puck over Doughty’s stick in the neutral zone to take advantage of his speed, then skates past Doughty for a breakaway that he takes to his forehand, then his backhand before lifting the puck over Quick’s right pad
  • Los Angeles Faults
    D. Doughty – gets caught flat-footed in the neutral zone so he can’t turn and stay with Wingels, who ends up with a breakaway

4th Sharks Goal (M. Nieto), Even

  • San Jose Contributions
    P. Marleau – steals the puck from Quick behind the net and feeds it in front for Nieto
    M. Nieto – picks up Marleau’s pass at the goal line, turns the puck to his forehand, and slides it into the empty net
  • Los Angeles Faults
    J. Quick – attempts to handle the puck behind the net, but has it stolen by Patrick Marleau, then can’t recover to get back in net
